Native New Orleanian Carol Carimi Acutt has directed three documentaries about Louisiana musicians – “Getting It Together” featuring bee bop pianist
Willie Metcalf, Jr., “My Story, My Music, My Life” about renowed jazz
composer and arranger Harold Battiste and most recently “Been Down That Muddy Road” featuring Louisiana Hall of Fame swamp pop legend Joe Barry.
Carimi Acutt's style of documentary filmmaking tells the story
through the subject's music and words while allowing the viewer to glimpse into
his soul. She has also produced and directed several live music events during
the world famous New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and WWOZ’s Piano Night. Her network television experience includes directing, producing and editing for primetime television.
Carimi Acutt has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the
University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master of Fine Arts in film from the
University of New Orleans.
